Just Say NO To FOG in the CLOG
Oct 28, 2025Pouring fats, oils, or grease (often called FOG) down the sink might seem harmless—but it causes major problems! When FOG cools, it hardens and sticks to the inside of pipes, leading to clogs, sewer backups, and costly repairs.
To keep your plumbing and our community systems running smoothly, never put these items down drains, sinks, or toilets:
- Fats, oils, and grease (from cooking or frying)
- Meat drippings or food scraps
- Dairy products (milk, cheese, butter, cream)
- Coffee grounds
- Eggshells
- Flour, pasta, or rice (they swell and cause blockages)
- Paper towels, napkins, or wipes (even “flushable” ones!)
Dispose the right way:
- Let grease cool, then scrape or pour it into a sealed container and throw it in the trash.
- Wipe greasy pans with a paper towel before washing.
- Use a sink strainer to catch food scraps.
Small changes in your kitchen habits help prevent big plumbing problems!
